And 2009 begins....

Over Christmas I was at my best friend's parents home and we were talking with her grandpa who was a doctor in Thailand for 10 years doing missionary work. We were looking at old pictures and journal entries. He was telling us all fascinating stories. He then told Allie and I that we need to journal. It doesn't have to be a ton, but just enough to job a memory.

So that's what I'm doing...

7 days into the new year and wow. It started off with me visiting my sister Martha in Denver. Actually I'm still in Denver killing some time before I go see my sister at school and head to the airport. Any who...It's been a good trip. Had some good chill time and went to their friends to bring in the New Year. On New Year's Day Martha and I went to the Sports Column. Which is really cool because the original Sports Column is in Iowa City. And then the guy moved to Denver and started one up. It's really trippy because when I walked in I totally thought I was in Iowa City.

So we're at the Sports Column and I meet up with my "boys" from college. JP, Luke, Mike, and Jake!! Ben, Brad, and Mike's wife Nicole were there too. It was so great seeing all of them. I ended up chilling with them the rest of the day.

Martha and I also went to the Denver Science Museum and ate at Pete's Kitchen. Yummy Breakfast Burrito! We were going to go to the Denver Art Museum, but it was so packed we wouldn't have enjoyed it.

On Sunday we headed up the hill to Winter Park. We went to the Ski Resort....oh how things have changed. Then we headed to the Timber House where we both had worked and on the way I spotted two moose...or is it meese? That was really really cool. I'd never seen them in the wild before. Two bulls were going head to head. I got some awesome shots and a little video.

Walking into the Timber House was trippy. So much was the same....I could not believe it had been 10 years since I set foot in that place. I started going to the Timber House when I was 7 years old. My dad's good friend from college owned it and I believe that was the year that started the McFarland girl's tradition of working there. The first year Mary worked there. We went quite a bit after that. So much was the same, but the payphone is gone. That made me sad. More stories about the Timber House later.

After that we went to Hot Sulphur Springs to soak in the fabulous all natural springs. It was so relaxing. Once we got back we just relaxed. Eaton made tacos and watched a movie.

The next two days I spent relaxing at Martha's house and played with Zora in the back yard. Yesterday (Jan. 6th) Martha picked me up after she got out of school and we went to a bar to meet her friend from work. We had just sat down and my mom called, but didn't answer because I wasn't in a great place to talk. Then Mom called Martha. And then Eaton. Martha told me to call her because she felt something was up. So I go out to call my mom so I could here better and then she told me to get Martha on the phone too so she didn't have to repeat her self.

She had run into my dad at the emergency room. (My mom is an RN) My dad had had a stroke...

And I will pick up from there later.
